Nowadays, office workers like us spend 6-8 hours a day sitting in front of a computer or at a desk. Which, if we were to compare , is about the same amount of time spent lying in bed each day. Therefore, office syndrome, neck, shoulder, and back pain are very common.

When it comes to workspaces, we all have different styles of arranging things on our desks. Some people like simplicity, while others prefer to group things together. Your desk is like your home, so things you use all the time need to be within easy reach, but things you don’t use as often need to be within easy reach as well. Today, ยูฟ่าเบท invites everyone to arrange their work desks to protect themselves from office syndrome.

The Primary Zone is the area that can be easily reach by simply stretching your arm out. With your elbow comfortably at your side. This area is usually reserve for your keyboard and mouse. It is not recommend to place anything else in this zone unless you use them as much as you use the mouse and keyboard.

  • The mouse and keyboard placement area should be at the same height as the chair armrests.
  • When working with a mouse and keyboard, you should use your elbows as a pivot point by placing them on the armrests at all times. Try to force yourself not to lift your elbows while working because it will cause shoulder pain later.

The second zone  is a zone that can be reach by stretching out your arms without having to lean or bend your waist. Having to lean or bend your waist frequently can cause muscle pain and eventually lead to office syndrome. This area is suitable for frequently use items such as books, notebooks, or various stationery.

  • The height of the chair should be adjust to be suitable. You can observe this when sitting and your knees can bend 90 degrees and touch the floor just right.

The Third Zone should be accessible by extending your arms, leaning over or bending at the waist. And although it is possible to reach items without standing up. This is not something that should be done routinely. This zone is best for storing items that are use occasionally. If the workspace extends beyond this zone (such as vertical shelving above the desk). This area should be use for storage only.

  • The height of the computer screen is very important. The top edge of the screen should be about 1-2 inches above eye level so that when looking at the computer screen, we do not have to look down too much.

In addition, spending more than 8 hours a day sitting at a desk can cause discomfort, but we can solve this problem by adjusting the height of the chair to be appropriate. But no matter how well we arrange the desk, while sitting, we should stretch our muscles. We should get up and walk around frequently, at least every 1 hour. We can go to the bathroom, flush water to use our muscles. Finally, no matter where you work, you should not neglect taking care of yourself.
